We recently got back from another great WISPAmerica. The show gets bigger and more fun every year. This year I participated in the VMs vs. Hardware panel. I tried to explain the differences between bare metal, VMs, and containers at a high level. I view these as points on a continuum, they are more related than people often realize.

I also introduced NUMA and related concepts so that people who do high-speed networking have some idea of the pitfalls that NUMA architectures cause for networking. Finally, I touched on a few virtualized network interface architectures.
